Medical Cover for companies and employees

Medical cover for companies and employees comprises two components

The components of medical cover for companies and employees are Medical Aid Cover and Gap cover, or Health insurance (Primary Care).

For Medical aid cover, we use Discovery Health Medical Scheme.

For Gap cover, primarily, we use Stratum Benefits.

(However, we do also look at Discovery’s gap cover product. It really depends on the individual – age/ family size, etc. as to which is more advantageous for clients)

We have also used Turnberry Benefits products previously and regard them highly.

Medical cover for companies and employees:

For the Primary care/ health insurance products, we use Stratum Benefits and the Discovery Primary Care product.

(Obviously, if a member is on a health insurance product, they will not belong to a medical aid as well- you can only claim from one.)

Note that a relatively new entrant to this space is the addition of Primary care cover for companies that are wanting to provide medical cover for employees, but cannot afford full medical aid. Or, the employees are lower income earners and therefore cannot afford full medical aid.

This is also known as health insurance.

The funding of these primary care plans is done by using networks for day to day cover for the members and some emergency / hospitalisation (usually accident based) type cover.

Employees enjoy these plans as they usually allow for unlimited visits to the members GP, which is normally a high cost item for these employees.

Enquiring about medical cover for companies?

Generally you can start getting quotes for 10 or more members for a company membership.

Costing can also vary depending on the Job/occupation function of the company (i.e. risk) and whether it is a compulsory or voluntary scheme (for the members).
