Vitality for children

Dear All,

(update Sept, 2016- kept post for history)

This is for those of you who have children on your Vitality memberships.

The essence of being healthy  begins with good habits in your youth (just ask someone trying to change habits from their youth), this then is the latest notification from Discovery via their latest e -Discoverer newsletter.

Introducing Vitality’s new benefits for children in 2010

Vitality is committed to wellness for your clients’ whole family.

As part of this commitment we’re introducing some great new benefits for your clients’ children to enjoy in 2010.

The Ster-Kinekor benefit

We have extended the Ster-Kinekor benefit for 2010. Your clients’ children from the ages of 2 to 18 can now enjoy free movies before 7 pm.

It’s now also easier to qualify for this benefit.

All your clients have to do is complete the new Kids Personal Health Review on www.discovery.co.za. This is an interactive questionnaire that aims to help your clients by giving them recommendations on aspects of their children’s health and wellness. Completing this questionnaire will also earn them 2 000 Vitality points.

Once your clients have completed this Personal Health Review they need to get a Ster-Kinekor movie card, which costs R38. Remind them to go with their child and ID book to the nearest Ster-Kinekor theatre and they can activate this benefit. The Vitality points for completing the questionnaire needs to reflect on your clients’ Vitality Points Monitor before their children can watch free movies.

Children get great savings on gym access

As good health patterns are set early in life, Vitality encourages children to get active from an early age.

If your clients are members of Virgin Active, their children aged six weeks to seven years at Virgin Active’s Club-V, and children aged six weeks to 14 years at Club-V Max, can now qualify for a 50% discount on the monthly gym rate. Plus, if your clients are members of Planet Fitness then their children aged three to 13 can join Planet Play and pay zero activation fee and qualify for 50% off the club rate.

If your clients’ pay the monthly rate with their Visa DiscoveryCards, they will increase this saving by another 10% to 20% based on their Vitality status and how long they’ve been on Vitality.

Please note that for Planet Play, the additional DiscoveryCard saving will only be available from next year.

Planet Fitness and Virgin Active gym access is also free for children under the age of 18 if your clients are members.

Childhood vaccinations

All your clients’ children on Vitality between the ages of 4 and 6 will earn 1 000 Vitality points for their family for having their childhood vaccinations. This includes repeat vaccinations for chicken pox (Varicella); measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); polio; and diptheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP).

Discovery Health pays vaccinations from the available funds in your clients’ Medical Savings Account. The costs do not count towards the Annual Threshold.

Magazine savings on VitalityMall

Your clients’ children can enjoy up to 70% off magazine titles like Saltwater Girl, National Geographic Kids and Seventeen on VitalityMall.
